My interpretation of a hair salon/barbershop, is my home. My mother was a hairstylist and barber and used her home as a place for braiding hair. My mother never taught me how to braid hair because she felt that it was hard work and she didn’t want me to live a life like hers. The cost to braid hair was very cheap, $40 per head, if there was a wedding should would have to get up super early to braid all of the bridesmaids hair, and the bride In the traditional Eritrean wedding hairstyle called Albaso, which was worn on the second day of the wedding called ‘Melsi’.
